About Blue Iris K-2

Hello, I’m Paulomee

I’m the creator behind Blue Iris. I believe children learn best when they have the freedom to be curious.

Sometimes learning starts with a question. Sometimes it starts with noticing something, making a connection, trying something out, or simply wondering, “What would happen if…?”

As a primary educator, I want to create resources that give children those little opportunities to explore. I don’t see math, literacy, science, history, and art as completely separate things. One idea can lead to another, and sometimes looking at something from a different perspective is where the most interesting learning happens.

Why Blue Iris?

That idea is actually what inspired me to name my store Blue Iris.

I’ve always been fascinated by Van Gogh’s Irises, painted in 1889. The flowers appear blue today, but Van Gogh originally painted them violet. Over time, some of the pigments faded and changed the way we see the painting.

What I love about the story is that a painting more than a century old can still have something new to teach us.

An artist might notice the colors and composition. A scientist might wonder why the pigments changed. A historian might explore the world Van Gogh lived in. A writer might turn the flowers into a poem. A mathematician might notice patterns and shapes.

And a child might notice something completely different.

That is the kind of learning I want to encourage: looking a little closer, asking questions, making connections, and discovering something new.

What I make

Through Blue Iris, I create resources for young learners across math, literacy, science, art, and seasonal learning, including worksheets, task cards, learning centers, print-and-go activities, crafts, and creative projects.

I hope Blue Iris gives children not just something to learn, but something to wonder about.
